Altenew: With A Twist

I have a classic taste with a twist, because classic never goes away – Nadia Comaneci

Chrysanthemums: Two Options

Florals are a classic in the card making world and this beauty is no exception, a chrysanthemum in all its glory.  The Altenew  Build-a-flower Chrysanthemum is a multi layering stamp that lends itself to a variety looks by simply changing colors or selectively skipping layers. Whatever you do you’re bound to find just the right look for the card you’re making. The Chrysanthemum on the left is stamped using all 4 layers included in the stamp set while the Chrysanthemum on the right was stamped with layers number 2 and 4. Both versions are gorgeous and convey the classic beauty of the flower.

For the card I’m showcasing today I was looking for a more simple but elegant version of the Chrysanthemum and choose the one on the right. This version of the Chrysanthemum also uses a metallic embossing powder for the 4th layer rather than a traditional ink adding a touch of sparkle to the overall design.

Chrysanthemum With a Twist

Altenew’s Inline Alpha was used to cut out multiples of the ‘YOU’ sentiment in white for a tone on tone look. I first add double-sided adhesive to the back of the paper I die cut so I didn’t have to worry about getting glue everywhere. Getting the angle consistent from row to row was easy too using a Misti and the Creative Corners accessory to butt the tops of the letters in a straight line  – no muss, no fuss! The overhanging edges of the letters were trimmed off after all the text was set in place. I did add an additional ‘you’ in a soft grey as well as a complimentary sentiment also in the same color thereby picking up the gray of the leaves.

I was so pleased with the way this card turned out and the ease of creating it I made two! By the way, the text background as well as the exploration of different layer combinations was inspired by Altenew’s ‘With a Twist’ class. This class is hosted by Therese Calvird and is sure to spark your creativity and get your creative juices flowing.

Twice is Nice!
