It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. – Beatrice Eiseman
Purple usually isn’t my color choice but when it’s paired with gold accents I can’t resist. Here is my offering for the Altenew Class Let It Shine: a rich gold accented frame element with a cascade of blue violet flowers. The background mat was created with a linen paper to provide an elegant but simple backdrop for the focal image.
Mirror type card stock is always a challenge to photograph and no exception here but the detail image below should help! The Tim Holtz Metallic Kraft paper in gold was first die cut then heat embossed in gold to create a classic “tone on tone” look using Altenew’s Sweet Friend stamp and die set. Really stunning in person.
I created the floral spray with Altenew’s Fabulous You stamp and die set. I created 2 flower panels and colored each similarly using the “rock ‘n roll” technique coupled with ink blending to highlight various portions of the flowers. The ink colors where Altenew’s Wisteria, Hydrangea, and Ultraviolet. For the very centers I added Cosmic Berry to brighten the overall look. The leaves were colored in a similar “rock ‘n roll” fashion using Altenew’s Bamboo, Olive, and Moss inks. All ink blending was assisted by Picket Fence Studio’s Life Changing Brushes.
I hadn’t used this die set before and was surprised and delighted to find that the coordinating dies provided give you two options for cutting out the flowers. If you cut both options and then layer you get a very dimensional, realistic look to the flowers. See if you can see the layers in this detail image of the flowers as well as the gold embossing on the frame.
All this card needed was a simple sentiment, stamped in black and clear heat embossed, and finally, green gemstones were pleasingly scattered to complete the this project.
